Quick Reference
- Base power starts from the source item's power score, then is reduced if the source slot 'weight' exceeds the target slot 'weight' (a metric which isn't related to actual item weight, though the heaviest items, Torsos/Weapons, are the top of that scale too), and finally capped at 1125 x target weight. The table below shows the resulting percentage.
- Fame improves the power band: A fame bonus is added to the base power, and the acceptable min/max band also scales with fame (capped at 255).
- Fame also raises the artifact generation level for reforging to half your fame (capped at 75, maxed at 150 fame).
- Inspired Smithing improves the result band by +12.5% to the minimum and +8.33% to the maximum.
- Special adjustments: target melee weapons with low damage dice are treated as 'lighter', wizardstaffs set it to 55, and harps use 50 for bards and 40 for non-bards.

What Affects Maximum Source Power
- Fame sets the reforge limit with a soft slow-down in the 128-223 fame range: limit = f x 150 + f x f x 3 / 2 (using adjusted f).
- In coffee-break mode, the limit gets a level-based bonus if fewer than two random quests were failed.
- The source artifact must have power at or below the reforge limit, or reforging is blocked.
What Affects Final Reforge Results
- Slot weights and the source-to-target penalty, plus the 1125 x target weight cap, shape the base power used for the roll.
- Fame affects the power band (average and min/max thresholds) and also the generation level for the reforged artifact.
- Inspired Smithing improves the minimum and maximum thresholds.
- The target item must be weak enough: its power score must be at or below half the source power and below a slot-based cap derived from the source weight.
Fame Gains (Condensed)
- Standard arena victories: +1 fame per win for the 41 standard arena fights; no fame is granted after those fights when you are already champion.
- Quest completion: +1 to +2 fame per quest; special endgame quests add +50, but those are above level 60.
- Dungeon final guardian (politician dungeons): +1 to +3 fame.
- Unique kills: +1 fame with a one-in-three chance for uniques below level 80; +1 extra at level 90+. For level 60 or below, expected fame is one-third per unique.
- Insta coffee mode increases all fame gains.
Expected Fame Tally (Level 50 + Arena + Quests to L60 + Uniques <= 60)
- Arena: 41 wins x 1 fame = 41.
- Quests up to level 60: 76 non-purple quests, each giving 1-2 fame, expected 1.5 -> 114 expected (range 76-152).
- Uniques level 60 or below: 237 uniques; expected fame 237 / 3 = 79 (range 0-237).
- Expected total fame: 41 + 114 + 79 = 234 (range 117-430).
What That Expected Fame Means
- At fame 234, the reforge limit uses the full fame value (no mid-band slow-down) and is 117,234.
- If the target slot weight is 80, the base power used in the roll is capped at 90,000 (1125 x 80).
- With fame 234, the average base power term is 0.75 x base plus 0.078 x base, for 0.828 x the adjusted base power before the min/max band and Inspired Smithing are applied.
